Are you eager to join a dynamic and expanding company where you can learn and make a meaningful impact? If you possess a strong sense of empathy, enjoy assisting others, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and excel at problem-solving, we encourage you to apply today to connect with a recruiter!

Founded in 1986, OnTrac has evolved into the leading provider of same-day and next-day delivery services in the U.S. for premier e-commerce and product-supply businesses, including five of the largest retailers in the U.S.

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Director/Head of Loss Prevention with a proven track record of significant financial impact. The ideal candidate will step into a newly established, critical role where you will directly own the reduction of millions of dollars in annual shrinkage. This isn't just a management position; it's a foundational building opportunity. You will define and implement best practices, build robust processes, and foster a culture of accountability across our logistics operations.

We need someone who has seen "what good looks like" in large, well-developed companies but is also eager to roll up their sleeves and build for themselves. You'll lead the charge by establishing standardized reporting, forging critical relationships with law enforcement and other retailers, and architecting a robust subrogation process for our contractors. You will represent your scope & impact directly to the executive team. If you thrive in a dynamic environment, possess exceptional communication skills to influence both executive leadership and front-line teams, and are driven by the tangible impact of impacting a company’s financials, this is a unique chance to shape the future of loss prevention at our company.

Responsibilities:

· Single-Threaded Leader for Shrink Reduction: Lead and oversee all efforts to reduce annual shrink, defined as revenue loss, claims payouts to shippers, and other revenue-impacting implications of lost and mishandled packages.

· Investigation Process Management: Own and drive the end-to-end investigation process for identifying and addressing theft.

· Standardized Reporting Development: Design, build, and implement standardized exception reporting for OnTrac, focusing on operational metrics that serve as leading indicators of individual or systematized theft.

· Law Enforcement & External Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with law enforcement agencies and other retailers to facilitate data sharing, lead to closed cases, pressed charges, and/or recouping lost dollars.

· Subrogation Process Establishment: Develop and implement a robust, consistent, and enforceable subrogation process to mitigate company liability for packages stolen by third-party providers.

· Team Leadership & Development: Design your organization and lead, mentor, and develop a team of loss prevention professionals, fostering their growth and ensuring their success in achieving shared goals.

· Process Creation & Improvement: Architect and implement new loss prevention processes, procedures, and controls from inception, continuously assessing efficiency and identifying gaps. Influence operations leadership at our 100 field sites to support Loss Prevention through process improvements.

· Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner effectively with internal teams across operations, customer service, and legal, as well as external partners, to ensure alignment of loss prevention strategies with overall business objectives.

· Reporting & Analytics: Maintain accurate records of loss incidents, investigation outcomes, and prevention efforts. Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management on the status and impact of loss prevention initiatives.

Competencies:

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with a team, is a creative problem solver, and can work at a fast pace.

· Leadership & Team Development: has led a team and developed future leaders.

· Communication & Presentation Skills: Strong ability to convey information clearly, engage diverse audiences from hourly associates to executive leadership, and adapt messaging to different internal and external stakeholders while maintaining professionalism and clear communication.

· Project Management: Skill in planning, coordinating, and executing loss prevention initiatives, including the ability to build out processes from scratch while managing day-to-day operations.

· Stakeholder Collaboration: Works effectively with internal leadership, direct reports, and external parties (e.g., law enforcement, other retailers) to achieve loss prevention objectives.

· Data-Driven Decision Making: Uses analytics and reporting to measure loss prevention effectiveness, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.

· Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Ability to assess complex loss scenarios, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.

· Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of industry regulations, legal aspects related to theft, and company policies, especially as it relates to legal contracts with third parties and claims.

Minimum Requirements:

· Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (Master's Degree as a bonus).

· 6-10 years of progressive experience in loss prevention, asset protection, or a related field within large-scale, well-developed publicly traded companies in operations, transportation, manufacturing, e-commerce, or retail.

· Demonstrated ability to build processes and programs from the ground up with a "business owner" mentality.

· Extremely proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis.

· Experience with case management software generally (no specific software required).

· This position is remote with up to 50% travel required.

· Strong Plus: LPCertified (LPC) certification from the Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF).

· It is the responsibility of every position to understand and adhere to the security guidelines outlined in OnTrac’s Acceptable Use policy and to conduct their activities accordingly.
