Employment Logistics:

The Director of Middle Mile Operations will be responsible for overseeing the strategic design, execution, and optimization of the middle mile transportation network. This leadership role focuses on ensuring timely, cost-efficient, and high-performance delivery of goods between Sort Centers and Delivery Stations. The director will lead initiatives that drive peak network design, optimize line-haul costs, and improve overall supply chain performance.

The Must-Haves:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in logistics, transportation management, or supply chain operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of middle-mile logistics, transportation networks, and supply chain optimization.

Skills: Expertise in network design and optimization, including peak season management.

    • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and performance improvement.
    • Proven ability to negotiate cost-effective transportation agreements and manage vendor relations.
    • Proficiency in logistics software and optimization tools (e.g., TMS, WMS, Excel, etc.).
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to drive cross-functional initiatives. •

Leadership: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse team and collaborate across departments.

Your Mission in Motion:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Optimization Tools Development:
    • Develop and implement advanced network optimization tools that enhance decision-making capabilities across the middle-mile transportation network.
    • Identify areas for improvement and build solutions to reduce costs while increasing efficiency and capacity.
    • Track and report on financial performance, making adjustments to keep costs in line with budget expectations.
    • Utilize advanced analytics and forecasting tools to make data-driven decisions for the middle-mile operations.
    • Maintain visibility into KPIs and performance metrics to ensure operational goals are met.
  • On-Time Delivery Deep-Dive and Actions:
    • Lead deep-dive analyses to identify key drivers of delivery performance.
    • Develop and implement corrective actions and strategies to improve on-time delivery metrics.
    • Work closely with teams across Operations, Engineering, Sales, Finance to mitigate risks and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Peak Network Design:
    • Drive the design and scalability of the middle-mile network to meet seasonal and peak demand.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to anticipate and prepare for peak periods, ensuring network capacity aligns with projected demand.
    • Oversee and manage the peak trailer forecast process, ensuring alignment with
    • operational requirements and demand spikes.
    • Work with transportation and logistics teams to optimize fleet size and utilization during peak seasons.
  • Operational Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor the middle mile operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Drive cross-functional collaboration between transportation, operations, and other others stakeholders.
