Location:REMOTE
Pay: $125,000 to 188,400/ year depending on experience and qualifications + up to 15% discretionary annual bonus
Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm
(Hours subject to change depending on business needs)
Employment Logistics:
Overseeing the technical health and operational efficiency of the organization’s infrastructure, the Mechanical Engineering Consultant designs, evaluates, and optimizes mechanical material handling systems that support high-volume logistics, shipping, and distribution operations through analysis and resolution of complex engineering problems, leading technical initiatives, and delivering innovative solutions that improve asset reliability, throughput, safety, and cost efficiency across the organization. Through strategic planning, systems analysis, performance reporting, and engineering controls, the Mechanical Engineering Consultant manages facility systems design, equipment reliability, process optimization, and capital projects ensuring regulatory compliance, vendor and stakeholder relationships, and makes strategic decisions for long-term operational growth.

The Must-Haves:
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•8 years of relevant experience in engineering for facilities, conveyor systems, automated material handling, or sortation equipment, ideally within logistics, shipping, or manufacturing.
•Experience successfully leading complex engineering initiatives and influencing cross-functional teams.
•Ability to lead changeovers, train teams, and standardize practices across multiple sites.
•Demonstrated understanding of the interdependencies between mechanical systems, operations, safety, and business performance.
•Adaptable communication style to align engineering decisions with broader business, operational, and financial objectives.
•Knowledge of work measurement, labor standards, line balancing, time study, process mapping, and visual management.
•Advanced skills using MS Office and BI tools for operational data validation and KPI reporting.
•Proficiency and strong knowledge of CAD systems and simulation tools.
•Ability to travel up to 35%.
Your Mission in Motion:
•Lead cross-functional design, execution and adoption: Be the recognized technical authority for facilities and material handling systems and operations developing and refining complex engineering models, methodologies, and procedures to support equipment selection, deployment, maintenance strategies, and lifecycle optimization.
•Diagnose opportunities and quantify impact: Recommend and implement practical, scalable solutions that improve operational performance, asset uptime, and risk mitigation in fast-paced logistics environments. Define appropriate engineering methods and procedures, utilizing advanced analysis techniques and sound professional judgment.
•Engineer standards and improvements end-to-end: Evaluate vendor designs, technical proposals, and equipment performance to ensure compliance with specifications, safety standards, and business objectives. Provide detailed project estimates for capital expenditure planning.
•Improve flow, layout, and equipment design: Ensure work output aligns consistently with departmental goals, capital plans, and business strategies reviewing for overall effectiveness and alignment. Build and maintain strategic relationships with key material handling manufacturers regarding latest technology that improves operational efficiency and reduces human capital.
•Lead cross-functional execution and adoption: Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders beyond immediate engineering teams, including operations leaders, logistics partners, contractors, and suppliers. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical audiences.
