Location: Remote.

Salary: $85,000 - $100,000.00 per year. 

Employment Logistics:

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in overseeing and ensuring the accuracy of the Company’s financial records, analyzing financial data and supporting with the preparation of annual financial statements and audit. This role owns a variety of accounting functions, including month-end close responsibilities associated with the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of key accounts, financial statement reviews, designing policies and procedures to drive efficiencies in the close process, accounting process and controls improvements. The senior accountant will also support financial reporting and the annual financial statement audit, as well as assist in other financial-related tasks. The Senior Accountant is expected to manage multiple priorities concurrently without compromising quality, accuracy or completeness.

The Must-Haves:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting
  • Considerable knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • The ability to identify, research and resolve accounting problems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • CPA preferred
  • A working knowledge of accounting software systems, preferably Oracle Fusion

Your Mission in Motion:

General Ledger and Accounting Process

  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger, including preparing journal entries and the related calculations and analyses to support month end journal entries.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process by managing the general ledger for areas of responsibility, communicating necessary adjustments and post-close entries and preparing the necessary analyses to support those.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations with necessary supporting documentation. As necessary, work with other departments or individuals to rectify any issues or problems identified during the reconciliation process. 
  • Reconcile intercompany balances, eliminations and adjustments as part of the consolidation process
  • Act as a subject matter expert in his/her areas of accounting, being able to research accounting guidance and reach accounting conclusions associated with areas of responsibility (such as debt and equity, intercompany and consolidations, accounting for payroll and benefits, fixed assets and lease accounting)
  • Analyze financial statements monthly for accuracy, identifying and documenting any fluctuations to historical trends or budgeted expectations. Resolve any variances that result from missing or incorrect adjustments.
  • Monitor close tasks and ensure all areas of responsibility are completed timely.
  • Effectively manage areas of responsibility with a focus on improving processes and controls to allow for efficiencies in the overall close process.

Audit and Reporting

  • Support the preparation of the annual financial statements for areas of responsibility, including drafting footnotes and updating support and tie-outs;
  • Preparing documentation for external auditors. 
  • Ensuring the accuracy of financial data and maintaining internal controls.

Supervision and Team Management

  • Supervise staff accountants, train and mentor the junior staff. 
  • Coach staff accountants and other areas on the Company’s policies and accounting guidance in accordance with GAAP as applicable.
  • Support accounting leadership with planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of staff.

Paving your way to your success:

  • Supporting FPA with budgets and analyses for the forecasting process.
  • Providing financial insights and recommendations to management. 
  • Supporting business process improvements and designing or revising accounting policies. 
  • Researching and resolving accounting-related issues as needed. 
  • Ad hoc project-based activities related to improvements to system or processes
