Compensation:

The expected starting base pay range for this position is $156,000 to $195,000 per year, with full potential base salary range over a successful candidate’s tenure in the position of $156,000 to $234,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, and other job-related factors.

This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, or other incentive compensation in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan of up to a 25% Bonus Target.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm

(Hours subject to change depending on business needs)

Travel:

Up to 20%

Employment Logistics:

The Regional Director of Linehaul provides strategic and operational leadership for OnTrac's middle-mile transportation network, ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective movement of packages between hubs, sort centers, and delivery branches. This role owns enterprise linehaul performance across multiple regions and leads Senior Linehaul Managers and other transportation leaders to drive service reliability, transportation efficiency, network stability, carrier performance, and scalable growth while aligning transportation strategy with broader business objectives.

You will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing the processes, resources, systems, and strategies that enable the organization to deliver products and services effectively. This function drives operational excellence through execution, planning, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration while ensuring the organization can scale efficiently to support growth, customer service commitments, and network performance. You will provide leadership, planning, execution, and optimization of transportation, fleet, and linehaul operations that support the safe, reliable, and cost-effective movement of shipments throughout the network focused on transportation strategy, carrier management, network performance, capacity planning, safety compliance, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement to ensure service excellence and scalable growth.

The Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 12 years of relevant experience leading teams and divisions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of transportation, supply chain operations, and logistics within a fast-paced, high-volume network.
  • Deep knowledge of hub-and-spoke transportation models and middle-mile network operations.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale vendor- and carrier-based transportation networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute transportation strategies across multiple regions, facilities, and operating environments.
  • Strong competency interpreting operational KPIs, capacity models, transportation forecasts, cost analysis, and performance metrics.
  • Strong operational and financial acumen, including budget accountability, transportation spend management, forecasting, and cost optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance service reliability, capacity, and cost while making decisions with network-wide impact.
  • Proven ability to lead through leaders, including hiring, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and development of high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment across Operations, Network Planning, Fleet, Safety, Finance, Procurement, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Strong executive communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and change-management skills.
  • Experience leading transportation operations through peak periods, network disruptions, severe weather events, capacity constraints, and other high-risk operating conditions.

Your Mission in Motion:

  • Lead the strategy, execution, and performance of OnTrac's linehaul network across multiple regions, establishing standardized operating models, performance expectations, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Drive achievement of key transportation performance metrics including on-time departures, on-time arrivals, lane reliability, capacity utilization, service performance, and transportation cost efficiency.
  • Partner with Network Planning, Operations, Finance, Fleet, Procurement, Safety, and Engineering to develop transportation strategies that support network growth, service commitments, and changing business requirements.
  • Own linehaul financial performance, including transportation spend, budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization initiatives, and business case development.
  • Provide executive oversight of carrier relationships, transportation providers, fleet utilization, sourcing strategies, performance management, and contract compliance.
  • Lead transportation readiness and contingency planning for peak seasons, severe weather events, network disruptions, major customer launches, and capacity constraints.
  • Identify systemic operational risks, transportation bottlenecks, and network inefficiencies, implementing sustainable corrective actions that improve service, scalability, and cost performance.
  • Establish enterprise linehaul dashboards, operating reviews, scorecards, and continuous improvement programs that promote data-driven decision-making and operational excellence.
  • Lead, develop, and coach Senior Linehaul Managers and transportation leaders while building organizational capability, succession plans, and leadership pipelines.
  • Influence executive decision-making by providing transportation expertise, operational insights, and strategic recommendations that impact network performance and long-term growth.

  • You engage with senior leaders, executives, and key customers to negotiate high-impact matters critical to organizational success balancing diverse stakeholder perspectives to align interests and drive meaningful business outcomes.
  • You lead subordinate managers, driving operational excellence and strategic execution and guide teams in developing innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • You hold accountability for decisions that significantly influence functional or departmental budgets.
